Types of cricket bets explained: match odds, fancy, session and more

Indian cricket betting has its own vocabulary — bookmaker, fancy, session, lambi. This guide explains each market you will see on a Mahakal Cricket ID, with simple examples, so you know exactly what you are betting on.

Types of cricket bets – batsman playing a shot in a local cricket match

Match odds

The simplest bet: which team wins. On the exchange you see back (blue) and lay (pink) prices in decimal odds such as 1.85. Backing ₹1,000 at 1.85 returns a ₹850 profit if your team wins. Match odds usually settle on the official result, and rules for ties and abandoned matches are shown with the market.

Bookmaker market

The bookmaker market is also on the match winner, but the rate is set by the book and shown in paise or as a number such as 90 or 45 rather than decimal odds. A rate of 90 means a ₹100 bet wins ₹90. Bets are usually accepted quickly, which makes it popular during fast-moving live play.

Fancy and session bets

Fancy markets ask a YES/NO question about a number. The most common is a session: runs at the end of a set number of overs. If the “6 over runs” line is 48–50, you bet YES at 50 if you think the team will score 50 or more, or NO at 48 if you think they will score 47 or fewer.

Session lines move with every ball, so the rate you see is the rate at that moment. A “lambi” is a session for the full innings total.

Example session market: 6 over runs, line NO 48 / YES 50.

YES at 5050 or more49 or fewer
NO at 4847 or fewer48 or more

Over runs, player runs and fall of wicket

  • Over runs: Runs scored in one specific over, such as the 10th over.
  • Player runs: Whether a batter reaches a line, such as 25 runs.
  • Fall of wicket: The team score when the next wicket falls.
  • Boundaries: Fours or sixes in an innings or by a player, where offered.

Toss and special markets

Toss markets settle within seconds of the coin landing and are popular before IPL games. Special markets, such as top batter or man of the match, are offered on selected matches and follow their own settlement rules.

Which cricket bet should you choose?

Beginners usually start with match odds, then move to sessions once they understand how run rates change. Whatever you choose, set a budget for the match and read the market name and rules before you confirm.
